What can I do if I have a complaint about an Islamic fund?
Complain to the provider first, in writing. If that does not resolve it, take it to AFCA - free to you, and binding on the provider.
- 1 Internal dispute resolution - put it in writing to the provider and keep a copy. Licensees must respond within prescribed timeframes
- 2 Keep records - the response, your documents, dates and what you were told
- 3 AFCA - the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, if the provider is a member and the internal process is exhausted or the timeframe has passed
ASIC takes reports of misconduct but does not resolve individual disputes or recover your money. APRA supervises super funds prudentially and likewise does not handle individual complaints.
