Are wholesale investments automatically high risk?
No. Wholesale status describes investor eligibility and disclosure treatment, not the riskiness of the strategy.
What it changes is what you receive and what you can fall back on: an Information Memorandum instead of a PDS and TMD, and fewer retail protections.
That said, many wholesale products do carry higher liquidity, concentration, leverage or valuation risk, and they are less constrained in what they can hold. The strategy and the IM decide the risk - not the label.
