How quickly can I withdraw money from a managed fund?
It depends on the fund's dealing terms - anywhere from a few business days to months, and in stressed conditions withdrawals can be suspended.
The terms that decide it:
- Dealing frequency - daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly
- Processing time - how long after the dealing date the money is paid
- Minimum holding period and redemption notice period
- Gates - a cap on how much can be withdrawn in one period
- The responsible entity's power to suspend withdrawals where the fund becomes illiquid
ASX-listed ETFs are different: you sell on market at the prevailing price, subject to liquidity and spread.
